Benjamin and the Library Under the Bed
Benjamin was a quiet boy with a very busy imagination. He liked puzzles, soft blankets, and the smell of old books. Every night, he read before bed until his eyes felt heavy and his thoughts turned slow and floaty.
But there was one strange thing about Benjamin’s room.
No matter how many times his parents cleaned, dusty book corners kept appearing under his bed.
Benjamin was sure of it.
📚 A Secret Discovery
One evening, when the house was quiet and the moonlight painted silver lines on the floor, Benjamin dropped his book. It slid under the bed.
With a sigh, he knelt down and reached for it.
Instead of the book, his hand touched… a wooden floor.
That wasn’t right.
Benjamin leaned closer and peeked under the bed.
There, where darkness should have been, was a tiny glowing doorway. And beyond it—rows and rows of books.
A library.
Under his bed.
✨ The Library That Only Appears at Night
Benjamin crawled through the doorway and stood in a warm, cozy room filled with shelves. The books hummed softly, as if they were whispering to one another.
A small, round creature with glasses and a scarf floated toward him.
“Welcome,” it said kindly. “I am the Night Librarian.”
“Why is this here?” Benjamin asked.
The librarian smiled. “This library collects stories that are too gentle for daytime. They help children sleep.”
🌙 Choosing the Right Story
Benjamin was invited to choose one book—but only one.
Each book had a soft title:
-
The Dream That Learned to Walk
-
The Pillow Who Missed the Stars
-
The Very Last Yawn
Benjamin chose The Very Last Yawn.
As he opened it, the words floated into the air like fireflies. They wrapped around him, slow and warm.
He felt calm. Safe. Sleepy.
🛌 Back to Bed
When Benjamin opened his eyes again, he was in his own bed. Morning light filled the room.
The book lay beside him.
But when he looked under the bed, the doorway was gone.
Still, every night after that, Benjamin slept easily.
And sometimes—just before falling asleep—he could swear he heard the soft sound of pages turning beneath him.
Good night. Sweet dreams.
